GILSON-GUELPH *Style "E"* (10hp).

Gilson
1st eye witness:
This is the only pic I have; it's while the engine was still in the barn. I think it also says GUELPH under the GILSON. It has the Webster set-up on it. I don't think it would take much to get running.
Definitely a Webster on the right side. Definitely a 10 hp. Definitely a throttler. Definitely a cast brass tag on top of the hopper. If it's not a Wizard, I wonder what style it should be called then ? I did notice that your Wizard had everything on the other side.

2nd eye witness:
It is a very strange and unusual engine. Probably one of a kind. It has parts from a Wizard and parts from the earlier style. The block looks like the 8 HP earlier style, square hopper , open crankcase. The head appears to be the same vintage as the block but it is turned so the intake is on top and the exhaust goes out the right side. There is a very large carb. on the top of the head with 3 needle valves and a pre heater attachment. On the left side there is a Webster set up and a fuel pump driven from the push rod. At the back where the governor is it is like the early hit and miss style but it has been disabled and a rod to run the butterfly in the carb has been added. This rod and fuel pump appear to have been added at the factory. The cast brass builders plate says 10 HP, I cant remember if it stated a model. We think this may have been a prototype Wizard or a transitional model just before the Wizard.

3rd eye witness:
The tag on this engine reads "Gilson Engine Goes Like Sixty". SN 2062. Style "E". HP 10. The bore is 6 1/2". The stroke 10". Flywheel Dia. 39". The "E" would make it a Wizard 10 HP. but there are no Wizard castings used. It is the regular style Gilson. It has throtle linkage from the governor collar on the crankshaft that runs under the exaust push rod up to the head, then up to a big two fuel carb on top of the head also has a pipe to take heat from exhaust to carb.
