I was told that this 1-3/4hp Johnny-On-The-Spot resulted from an arrangement
between the Gilson Mfg. Co. and the Beatty Pump Co. of Fergus, Ontario.
Beatty contracted Gilson to provide engines for their pumps but because of
the size of the hopper, they couldn't fit the fancy scripted Beatty on it and
probably because of the cost involved of doing a pattern for something like that!
So they comprimised and that is the result. The letters BT when prononced
makes the sound "Beatty". Clever hey! |

There is a cover over the ignitor hole. It looks like a
factory fitted cover. The head is obviously the right head for
it as is the muffler. |

This Gilson has a cast iron crank guard but the name tag
is unfortunately missing. |
