Other Information:
1. Condition/History : Engine is in pristine original condition, other
than very light surface rust on hopper and has original paint remaining on
the inside of the flywheels and other grease covered spots. The muffler may
not be original. Engine was owned by New England resident (long since
deceased) and has been stored inside a barn (waterproof) since at least
1954. Prior history unknown.
2. Ignition: battery/coil/sparkplug
3. Style: JS Note* On what remains of the cart side rail I can just
make out most of the "Johnny-On-The-Spot" logo and part of the "picture
logo".
4. Color: There is much RED paint still remaining on varied parts of the
engine. There is no underlying paint to indicate the engine has ever been
repainted. The exact shade of red may come to light as I take the engine
apart and view protected areas.
5. Foundry: Both locations are indicated on the name tag.
6. Nickname: "60 Speed" is on the name tag and "Johnny-On-The-Spot" is
indicated on the cart and battery/coil box (appears to be painted rather
than a decal).
7. Name Plate: The name plate is located on the sheet metal crank guard and
is a thin brass plate with raised brass letters on what appears to be a
black background. There is no other nameplate on the engine nor is there
indication that any other name plate was ever mounted elsewhere on the
engine.
8. Appearance: My engine appears identical to the photograph that appears
in the BRB, Page 209, top left.
9. Water Hopper: There is no indication of nameplate holes or residuals of
decals anywhere on the hopper. The left side of the hopper (looking at the
engine from the front) has " JS -000 " in raised metal (located dead
center). No other markings on the hopper.
10. Head: The head (at the top) has "U.-3" in raised metal. Other markings
may be present elsewhere on the engine.
