I saw the Gilson Registry and thought I would list the info

Denis, Yes it is like the one in that catalog, except the magneto
is not run off the timing gear. There is a bracket there for it,
but the Splitdorf mag is a combo ignitor-magneto like the Webster
Tri-Polar-Oscillator. It has a cast iron cover over the crank,
like an upside down bath tub, that makes it look like an enclosed
crank. I have never seen another Gilson Style GG. I do have some
old photos if I can find them. If not I hope to get it out next
summer. It has not been out of the barn and run in about 10 years.
I own it for about 21-22 years. I purchased it from an elderly collector who was afraid to start it. He purchased it up north from a cider press, took it off it's original base [ I still have it] mounted it on a wagon and painted it somewhat the incorrect color. Without the base the crankshaft area is open on the bottom. Please stay in touch, and thanks for your interest in my engine, any more questions feel free to ask.
Paul A. Schmidt.
