GILSON 1-3/4hp "Style U".

I just got this 1-3/4 H.P. Gilson last weekend. It is missing the
crank guard so I don't have a S/N. My engine has that date February-15-1913
cast in the connecting rod. It does have the "U" cast by the part numbers.
Also it is missing the belt tightener with that pulley. What came with it
is five pulley's 3", 4", 5", 6" and a large one with spokes about 11-3/4"
diameter. The rest of the engine looks to be complete, including the gas
tank and original muffler. It has a lot of original red paint still on it
also. The cart steers with a tie rod and the wheels turn independently,
very unique. Everything on the engine seems to be very good mechanically.
By the way the wood battery box is gone also. The belt pulley's all came
in a box with the 1-1/4" X 24" shaft. What parts am I missing as far as
the belt system goes? I am told it came with a pump jack, but I didn't
get that with it either.
Kent
This engine was purchased in Holstein, IA by George Henes in 1912 or
1913. And then moved to the new farmstead in Creighton, NE in 1914. It was
used on the farm by George and then his son William for many years. Then
past down to Grandson Eugene Henes. It was in the Henes family for about 87
years. It had many uses on the farm, from pumping water, grinding feed to
running the washing machine. It was purchased at the farm sale on August
28, 1999 by the current owner Kent Zobel.
